Austria and Turkey are battling out in Leipzig's Red Bull Arena for a place in the Quarter-finals. Both teams have recorded two wins and one defeat in the groups phase.
France 1-0 Belgium
EURO - Mon 1 Jul 2024 - 16:00 UTC
Throughout a tense battle, the French had to remain patient to eventually win their ticket for the Quarter-finals against a resistant Belgian team. Five minutes before the final whistle, Kolo Muani receives the ball on the right hand side of the box, facing away from the goal. His shot on the turn gets slightly deflected by Vertonghen, and enters the goal, over the wrong-footed goalkeeper's dive (1-0).
Portugal 0-0 Slovenia
EURO - Mon 1 Jul 2024 - 19:00 UTC
It took a dramatic penalty shootout for Portugal to qualify against a strong Slovenian team, that had already proved they had the capacity to cause problems to top teams, as they did in their previous match (against England, 0-0).
There again the score was 0-0 after 90 minutes and the game had to go into extra-time, which also remained goalless. Consequently the qualification had to be decided on a penalty shootout, during which the Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa made three brilliant saves, denying each and every Slovenian penalty taker. Roberto Martinez' men won the penalty shootout (3-0), and will be playing France in the Quarter-finals, at Hamburg's Volksparkstadion on Friday.
