When are goals scored?

SoccerSTATS.com - updated on: 26 Oct 2026

Yet another last-minute equalizer against our team? This seems to be happening much too often lately. Another two points lost. What on earth might be happening with the team during those last minutes this season? Is that the sign of a specific weakness, or just plain bad luck?

Goal timing stats pitch background

Sometimes it feels like our team concedes a disproportionate number of crucial goals in the dying minutes of a match, even if the overall statistics don't reflect a high volume of late goals. The impact of a single, game-changing late goal that costs hard-fought points far outweighs the fleeting positive memories of multiple goals scored when a team is already leading comfortably (e.g., turning a 3-0 lead into 4-0).

Goals by Time Segments

When you suspect your team has a tendency to score or concede goals at specific points in a match, you can consult the goal timing statistics. These tables detail the number of goals scored and conceded by each team within various time segments.

Goals Scored/Conceded in Each 15-Minute Segment

This table presents the number of goals scored and conceded by each team during 15-minute intervals (e.g., minutes 1-15, 16-30, etc.).

Goals Scored/Conceded in Each 10-Minute Segment

For a more granular view of goal timing, this table breaks down goals scored and conceded by each team into shorter, 10-minute periods.

Goal Timing at the League Level

Goals per Time Segment

The table below illustrates when goals were scored across an entire league for all teams combined during a season. It lists, for each 15-minute segment, the total number of goals scored and their percentage relative to all goals scored.

Similar data is also provided for goals scored in the first half compared to the second half.

Average Minute Each Subsequent Goal Has Been Scored

This table shows the average minute the first goal was scored, across all matches combined during the season, then for the second goal, and so on.

In the example below, the first goal was scored, on average, in the 32nd minute. This first row also indicates that a first goal was scored in 89 matches, representing 90.8% of all matches played.
